The story is set in a dystopian future and follows Juliette, a teenage girl with a deadly touch any physical contact she has with another person causes them pain or death. Because of this "curse," she's been locked away in an asylum-like prison, completely isolated from human contact for nearly a year.
Everything changes when a boy named Adam is placed in her cell as a new prisoner someone she actually recognizes from her past. Juliette discovers that her touch doesn't seem to hurt him, which opens up new possibilities she never thought were real. Meanwhile, a military organization called The Reestablishment, led by the sinister Warner, is trying to capture and weaponize her unique ability.
