Dominic Salt and his three children Raff, Fen, and Orly are the caretakers of Shearwater, a remote island between Tasmania and Antarctica that houses the world's largest seed bank. As rising sea levels erode the island and force it toward evacuation, the family has just weeks left before they must leave for good. During the worst storm the island has ever seen, a woman named Rowan mysteriously washes ashore the sole survivor of a shipwreck, badly injured and searching for her husband. As the family nurses her back to health, it becomes clear she's hiding something, and so, it turns out, is Dominic.
